This course is designed to provide additional fire protection district (FPD) and ambulance district (AD) training beyond the existing eight-hour Certified Fire and Ambulance District Board Training (CFADBT). This is an opportunity for participants to delve into the more advanced topics faced by district board members, Ambulance Chiefs/Administrators.

EMS Crisis Intervention Response Concepts & Funding Opportunities

This track will cover the 8-hour Missouri Crisis Intervention Concepts course which covers Missouri Crisis Intervention team concepts and resources, identifying behavioral health disorders, suicide response and intervention, EMS Integration with law enforcement and mental health providers for Right Place First Time patient approach, verbal de-escalation techniques and strategies, and new funding opportunities for EMS transport of behavioral
health patients.
MCI/Mutual Aid Training | John Barclay | Region H Mutual Aid Coordinator
Introduction+ to MCI - This class will walk through the basics of the MCI event with emphasis on scene management and resources specific to the Missouri Mutual Aid system. It will take a review of the triage and treatment concepts, and tying patient transport concepts into lessons learned in Missouri from real world events that have gotten us to where we are now. We will share information about resource availability, outlining those processes and response from within the EMS regions. This will also be tying in existing and new communication platforms from EMS in the field to Hospitals, to enhance both patient tracking and patient movement to appropriate facilities. This presentation hopes to provide structural concepts for clinicians, leaders and planners to develop strong guidelines for local MCI response to leverage our current Missouri Mutual Aid system for success.

Rapid Ultrasound for Shock and Hypotension (RUSH) exam is meant to help narrow down the differential for causes of hypotension and shock states. This section discusses its use following both the HIMAP and the Pump, Tank, Pipes approach. We will further expand on critical care management by discussing how point of care ultrasound (POCUS) can help with managing airways including endotracheal tube placement confirmation and identifying anatomy for a surgical airway.
