This workshop will provide the necessary training and education required for newly appointed fire and ambulance district board members under Missouri state law. The Missouri Association of Fire Protection Districts and the Missouri Ambulance Association have developed the curriculum used in this class to assist new board members in understanding legal liabilities and personal obligations of their position. Topics include: authority of the board, responsibilities, rules, laws of elected boards, elections, and how to preside at a meeting.

Data Updates and requirements for GEMT, FRA & Cost Data Collection-Public Consulting Group (PCG)
In this information session, experts from PCG will share the overview, data reporting requirements, and timeline for participating in the Medicare Cost Survey. There will also be a specific focus on how to correctly categorize costs and revenues associated with GEMT and FRA programs. Remaining time will be used for an open forum Q&A to answer any remaining questions.

Update on Marijuana in the EMS Workplace- Frank Flashpoler
If the legal changes around medical marijuana, recreational marijuana and on-the-job intoxication have left you feeling a little stoned, join us for an hour overview of the development of marijuana laws in Missouri and some new testing techniques to help us ensure our employees are fit-for-duty. This course will cover the recent history of marijuana laws, specifically focusing on the passage of the most recent Amendment 3, and how they impact our employees in public safety and EMS. In addition, we will discuss some of the developing ways that employers can test for marijuana use and determine when someone is under-the-influence while at work.

The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP®) Foundations of Medical Oversight (FOMO) course provides practicing and future medical directors with knowledge essential to the provision of quality medical oversight.
Built on the principle that the ultimate goal of medical oversight is to improve community health, the course covers the system issues and clinical care considerations that impact this role.
Topics covered include system design and response, credentialing and training of EMS providers, clinical care and quality improvement. In addition, there is a state-specific section on legislation and regulation as it impacts EMS. The course is approved for 6.5 AMA Category 1 credits.

This course is designed to provide additional fire protection district (FPD) and ambulance district (AD) training beyond the existing eight hour Certified Fire and Ambulance District Board Training (CFADBT). This is an opportunity for participants to delve into the more advanced topics faced by district board members. Basic Board Member is a prerequisite to take the course.
