Missouri Crisis Intervention Team

Presenters: Jason Klaus and Kat Probst

The Missouri Crisis Intervention Team is a partnership of law enforcement and other first responders, behavioral health providers, hospitals, courts, individuals with lived experience and community partners who are dedicated to implementing the Missouri Model of CIT. Through these partnerships and training, first responders can help individuals in crisis by connecting them with appropriate community resources. The presenters will provide practical information from the behavior health crisis response perspective on expected positive outcomes from a collaborative partnership. Questions and discussion from audience participation is highly encouraged.

Presentation Objectives:

1. Define “What Is” the Missouri Crisis Intervention Team.

2. List the “Expected Outcomes” of a successful CIT program.

3. Define a “Local CIT Council” and its benefits.

4. Discuss the elements of Missouri Statute 190.147 and its application to emergency medical technician paramedics (EMT-P) and agency implementation.


Jason Klaus is a Detective Corporal for the Perry County (MO) Sheriff’s Office in Perryville, Missouri. Jason has been with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office since September of 1996 and has served as a Jail Officer, Patrol Deputy, School Resource Officer and Detective. Jason attended the Southeast Missouri Law Enforcement Academy in the summer of 1996 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998. Jason is currently the Missouri Crisis Intervention Team ( MO CIT) Coordinator and responsible for expanding CIT throughout the state and develop and maintain relationships with community behavioral health and advocacy partners.

Chris has spent 30 years in the Emergency Medical Services career field and continues to be an advocate for delivering the best care possible.

10:30-11:30-Leading with Emotional Intelligence - In this class the discussion covers the elements of being a strong emotional leader. Why do we feel our emotions and react to them? How do I develop great self awareness? How do I grow my Emotional Intelligence skills? Find out the answers to these questions and more. 

11:30-12:30- Lunch/Exhibits

12:30-1:30-Ultimate Leadership 10 Rules for Success - From Chris Cebollero’s Number 1 Best Selling book will outline the 10 rules that Chris had to develop to become a successful leader. This course covers problem solving, learning from failure, and how to coach.

1:30-1:45- Break/Exhibits

1:45-2:45-The 10 Most Common Leadership Mistakes - That’s right leaders make mistakes too. In this class Chris Cebollero will overview the 10 most common and how to avoid these pitfalls in becoming a great leader. 

2:45-3:45-Ask The Expert - In this Q&A session Chris Cebollero will take your questions and offer a lively discussion into developing your leadership skills and professional development
